A few things I think we need to talk about

Hi Reader,

Happy Monday 💛

There has been a lot happening in the news lately, particularly around mental health that I don't feel right glossing over.

If you’ve been online, you’ve probably seen some of the conversations surrounding Perez Hilton, as well as the ongoing Lindsay Clancy case.

I don’t want to go into all of the details here, but these stories have brought up some really important conversations around mental health, crisis intervention, postpartum mental health, and what it looks like when someone we love is struggling.

And I also know that consuming this kind of news can be heavy especially if any of it hits close to home. I will admit, I shed some tears while researching both of these cases.

Before going back to school for social work, I volunteered as a Crisis Counselor with Crisis Text Line, and it’s still a resource I think everyone should know exists.

If you or someone you love needs support:

• 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988

• Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 for free, confidential, 24/7 support

• You can also reach out to a therapist, physician, psychiatrist, or another trusted healthcare professional if you’re concerned about yourself or someone you love.

You don’t have to wait until something becomes an emergency to ask for help. It doesn't always look like an emergency to be one.

Okay, now let’s talk about tools you can actually use.

I have had many people reach out this week requesting real hand on communication tools that you can use. Especially ones that you can actually use in the moment when you’re overwhelmed, feeling reactive, people-pleasing, or struggling to communicate what you actually need.

So, I wanted to put a few of my favorites in one place:

💬 DEAR MAN: How to Ask for What You Need If you struggle to speak up, set boundaries, or ask for what you need without feeling guilty, DEAR MAN gives you an actual step-by-step structure for the conversation.

🎥 WATCH HERE: [DEAR MAN]

❤️ People-Pleasing & Relationship Communication If you tend to keep the peace, over-explain, abandon what you need, or wait until you’re completely overwhelmed to finally say something, start here.

🎥 WATCH HERE: [FAST SKILL]

❤️ How to Trust Yourself and Know If It's your Intuition or just a Trigger If you tend to over analyze, questions yourself, and struggle to know the difference between your anxiety and your intuition, start here.

🎥 WATCH HERE: [IS YOUR INTUITION LYING TO YOU?]

I’m going to keep sharing more of these practical skills because sometimes “communicate better” or “set boundaries” isn’t very helpful.

I want to show you HOW not just WHY... Many of you already know why you do the things you do but insight doesn't equal change.

TALK TO ME :) What's been on your mine this week? I want to know! Just hit reply and you can even just say Hi.

I read and respond to each email personally and truly want to hear from you.

Have a good Monday, take care of yourselves, and I’ll talk to you soon. 💛
